Photograph caption dated July 12, 1957 reads "Frank Tallman, flying World War I Newport bi-plane is getting set to be passed by two supersonic F-86 fighters from Van Nuys' 146th Fighter-Interceptor Wing of Air National Guard. Tallman is scheduled to wing his plane across country today on trip that will last seven days. Trip could be made faster in automobile."
