The Wayside Honor Rancho was renamed The Peter J. Pitchess Detention Center in 1983.
Photograph caption dated July 11, 1957 reads "Tessie, left, looks like a normal calf, but herdsmen at Sheriff's Wayside Honor Rancho in Castaic say she's a dwarf. Three months old, she should weigh 150 to 200 pounds, but instead she tips scales at 70 pounds. Head is oversized. Calf will be sent to scientists for study at University of California Davis campus."
