Photograph was edited for publication purposes; Original print has vertical crease along left side. Photograph article dated May 1, 1956 partially reads, "Valley Plaza, biggest regional shopping center in the San Fernando Valley and in all of Southern California after only a few years of existence, has the unusual distinction of possessing not only one but three different birth dates. It was first visualized as a bringing into the Valley of a center modeled after the original Plaza of the old Pueblo of Los Angeles and making this an L.A. "downtown." In 1942, a combination of various proposals for transforming the entire San Fernando Valley into a big city first took shape in the mind of Bob Symonds, longtime realtor and developer who after helping put together the Wilshire Miracle Mile proposed to produce an even greater miracle in the Valley. Then in 1951 a dream became a reality."
