Description
The Gra-Y Club is part of the 'four fronts' program developed by the YMCA which grew out of the Hi-Y Club created to promote Christian character in high school boys through emphasis in speech skills, sportsmanship and scholastic achievement. The 'four fronts' program included the Hi-Y Club for high school boys, Jr. Hi-Y Club for middle school children, Tri Hi-Y Club for girls, and the Gra-Y Club for grade school children.
Photograph caption dated February 13, 1965 reads, "Jeff Kremple of the Rebels looks for someone to pass the ball to, but all he can see is Crusaders' Saen [sic] Wallace, left, Dan Oronoz and Jack Olson in a recent (Gra-Y West Valley YMCA) basketball team."
