Description
Connie and Malgorzata begin discussing the status of Jews in Poland during Malgorzata’s upbringing, and the arrival of antisemitism in Poland during Adolf Hitler’s years. As a result of Jewish persecution, Malgorzata and her husband began to recover the remaining Jews through photography. Connie then asks if Malgorzata had been aware of Nazi horrors committed against Jews before starting the book, and Malgorzata talks about her knowledge of the Holocaust in Poland, but says that it’s abstract, and that meeting survivors and hearing their individual stories trumps secondary knowledge. They proceed to discuss the Pogroms and Polish communism before moving on to some of the stories behind the people pictured in the book. Connie closes the interview by requesting an autograph for her copy of the book and advocating libraries.
