Description
Adelyn Stumph looking over some of the rare volumes in the William A. Clark, Jr. Library on West Adams. The library includes precious manuscripts and letters as well as 15,000 famous books from those published in the early days of printing down to fine modern editions. Many well-known modern scholars have used the library as source material for their books. Stumph is holding a first edition of "The Picture of Dorian Gray," inscribed by Oscar Wilde to a friend. On the shelves are all the books dealing with Wilde in existence and obtainable. The library was gifted to UCLA. Architect: Robert Farquhar. February 16, 1927.
