Description
This July 1947 photograph shows busy box offices at the entrance to Edmonds Field at 1100 Broadway. Home to the Sacramento Solons baseball team, the stadium was built in 1922 as Moreing Field, named after team owner Lew Moreing. The stadium was destroyed by fire in July 1948, but rebuilt and improved with a concrete grandstand by the next season. Edmonds was demolished in 1964 to make way for a series of retail stores. This picture was taken from the northwest corner of the intersection of Broadway and Riverside Boulevard.
