Photograph article dated February 5, 1954 partially reads, "Gov. Goodwin Knight will be the principal speaker at the Family Night banquet of the California Newspaper Publishers Association tonight in the Ambassador Hotel. The CNPA convention, opening today, is being attended by several hundred publishers and newspaper executives. Entertainment by Hollywood stars will also be presented at the banquet... Frank 'Pappy' Noel, AP photographer who was held prisoner for 32 months in the Korean War, was the speaker. Noel said the United States is principal target for the Reds and added, 'There is no fence straddling by the Communists. People are with us or against us.'"
