Description
Image of an eye-level street view of the public square in Atlanta, Georgia, with Union troops on horseback in the foreground, and the square, tents of the military camp of the 2nd Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment, and buildings including the army headquarters, City Hall, and two churches in the background; circle vignette above the view with flags and a head-and-shoulders portrait of Union General Henry Slocum; two upper corner vignettes of a house identified as "Gen. Slocum's Head Qrs." and a fortification with cannons identified as "Fort on right of City Hall." Division and brigade battle flags decorate the top border and two division badges are in the lower corners; 3 location references bottom margin.

Abbott, 20th CY, Del."--text, bottom right margin. "The City of Atlanta was occupied the 2nd of Sept. 1864, by 20th Army Corps, Major Genl. Slocum, commanding - and was afterwards strongly fortified by that Corps."--text, bottom center margin.
