Description
In the wake of the October 17, 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake, Caltrans commissioned an oral history project to document the personal and professional experiences of Caltrans employees who worked to restore the State's damaged transportation system. At the time of this recording Ray Mailhot was the Regional Manager for Maintenance for Caltrans who worked at the San Leandro Maintenance Yard. In this interview, Ray describes his personal earthquake experience in San Leandro and working at the command post for the damaged Cypress Structure after the Loma Prieta earthquake.
