Description
Ann begins the interview talking about what drew her to Alex Katz and how she came to know Alex’s work. For the majority of the interview, Ann discusses how she constructed the book from the details of Katz’s works and the commonalities she saw between his work and her ideas about writing. In addition, Ann talks about how Katz changes his technique and subject matter—what she calls the “dimension’s beyond reality” effect—to influence how people see his paintings. Near the end of the interview, Ann talks about meeting Alex Katz in person and how he responded to her book.
