Description
Anne Ford discusses her book, “Laughing Allegra: The Inspiring Story of a Mother’s Struggle and Triumph Raising a Daughter with Learning Disabilities.” She begins by explaining that the book is about her family’s struggle with having a learning disabled child. She talks about her role as the Chairman of the National Center for Learning Disabilities and how she has become an activist for her daughter’s cause. She talks about Allegra’s constant rejection from schools as a child, but found boarding schools that have a similar curriculum for disabled children as public schools. Ford talks about Allegra’s difficulties with making friends and not understanding how to play with children. She ends the interview by discussing how she included a list of resources for parents of learning disabled children.
