Description
"Industrieschule. Tischlerlehrlinge (Br. Schärf)" ("Industrial school. Joiner's apprentices (Br[other] Schärf)"). Interior view of a joinery with ten Africans and Missionary Hans-Peter Schärf, all engaged in making furniture, such as tables, cupboards, wardrobes etc.
Cf. photo no. 7499. -- Hans-Peter Schärf (1898-1945) was a mission artisan of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine. He served as head of the joinery in Rungwe and was married to Anna Gertrud, née Sikora (born 1904).
