Description: The oil boom on the Venice peninsula began in 1929. At it's peak, there were 340 oil wells in Venice, all of which were removed by 1962. Printed on reverse: Like sentinels do these massize oil derricks stand overlooking the Pacific. Written on reverse: "Dear Aunt Edith. Here I am back on the coast arrived Sat. 11th Ja. and all are fine. I am leaving at 130. ISo Flower St. apt 19. Hope you and Unis Betty are fine. Love, Rigby"
