Description
The mule provides power for this hoist, along with three men also pictured, one standing near the hoist and two others in the doorway of the building. "Malacate" was a term used by the Spanish workers, which means "windlass, or hoist." The shaft pictured was one of the last shafts to be sunk by the Quicksilver Mining Company.
