Caroline Hwang discusses her novel, “Love in Bloom.” She begins by introducing her character: a Korean American fashion intern whose over-bearing mother decides to move in until she can find a husband. Hwang talks about writing for the magazine Good Housekeeping and her past experiences as an intern for Redbook, Mademoiselle, and Glamour magazines. She explains that the character in the novel isn’t based from her own personal experiences, but it is something she wishes could happen. Hwang talks about Korean traditions and how it is frowned upon for Koreans to marry other ethnicities. She ends the interview by discussing the competition to get into the fashion writing industry.
