Description
Shown is a postcard of the Oak Park entrance sign at the intersection of Thirty-Fifth Street and Fifth Avenue. The sign was the north entrance of a park owned by an electric company that would eventually become a part of PG&E. The photo was possibly taken circa 1911, when the neighborhood was officially annexed into the City of Sacramento. Behind the archway is a streetcar, a popular mode of transportation at the time. In 1913, an amusement park called Joyland was established by the Ingersol family soon after the park had been turned over by PG&E.
