Description
Gabrielle d'Estrée, a mistress of Henry the 4th, wears a white gown with gold detailing. There are stripes on the sleeves and at the hem and stripes create a V-pattern on her pointed, fitted bodice. Down the front of her skirt is a column of seven cross-shaped ornaments. Draped from shoulder-to-shoulder across the front of her bodice are two strands of pearls with an eight-point star ornament pinned at the center. The woman holds the ends of the pearl strands in her hand. Her other hand holds her gown slightly at the side, revealing a vivid blue underskirt. She wears a large white ruff, pendant pearl earrings, and has her hair dressed back into rows, high off her forehead. The pointed tip of a small, white shoe is visible. Behind her is a gray stone block wall, and a metal railing patterned with decorative vines and row of circles at the top.
