"Dr. and Mrs. S[idney] G[eorge] Peill and Chris Bryson, Mrs R[obert] E[dward] Peill with Peter and Joan, and the future Mrs Kelsey [Annie Constance Davies] punting up Meadows Road one of the main streets of the British Concession, Tientsin, during the floods. Passing All Saints Church (Anglican). The cupola is that of the Kailan mining administration building." Group portrait of missionaries and families on boat. The four Peill brothers, were born in Madagascar where their father, Jeremiah, was also an LMS missionary. They all served in North China for various periods between 1896 and 1928. Robert was an educational missionary, whilst Arthur, Ernest and Sidney were all medical missionaries.
