Description
Photograph of "The Avenue" a painting by Mundert Hobberna, depicting a country road, [s.d.]. Tall, thin, palm-like trees line either side of a narrow dirt road, down which a man with a cart can be seen coming towards the viewer. This road forks off to the right, where its offshoot terminates at what appears to be a two-story barn, in front of which two men can be seen talking. In the right foreground, on the other side of the offshoot, a crop of tall plants can be seen growing. Water lines the main road to the left, possibly a harbor. In its distance, the spire of a castle or church can be seen on a group of rocks that juts into the water. The back of the photoprint reads "(in France)" next to the painting's title.
