Dorothy Rice discusses her book, “Beverly Hills with Love.” She describes how she wanted to do a series of paintings on her hometown of Beverly Hills, California. She picked memorable landmarks in the city and posed her friends outside them for paintings. Rice talks about how she paints from photographs as well as life. One of the paintings in the book features Connie Martinson herself interviewing an author from her show. Rice discusses how she wants to recreate the feel of a place through her paintings and show the mood of a city. She talks about how once she got the hang of architectural painting her work became much easier. She has also done books of painting on Israel, Las Vegas, and Manhattan.
