Connie and Stephen begin the interview discussing the context of the novel and the importance of the development of the book in European history, and the publication of a poem out of circulation in the narrative. They go on to talk about the plot of the novel and the significance of the poem’s connection to ancient philosophy, and the philosophy of Epicurus, before moving on to consider how a book Stephen found as a child has affected his life.
