Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated November 6, 1963 reads, "Firemen set a house on fire Tuesday at 16220 Covello St., Van Nuys, and watched it burn to the ground while learning how to put out blazes. It was all a 'laboratory' period for fire fighters to learn quicker ways to extinguished structure blazes. Other houses in the area will be turned into flame as firemen use the method to get rid of unwanted structures in the area where Van Nuys Airport will expand. The home-burning exercises coincided with the second anniversary of the Bel-Air catastrophe which saw 400 homes gutted and $25 million in damages to homeowners in that community."
