Photograph caption dated July 7, 1965 reads, "First day - A teenage girl peers out a window of her temporary home, the new $5 million Valley Juvenile Hall in Sylmar. Hall, which can accommodate 400 youngsters, 'welcomed' the first 13 yesterday."
