Portrait of Albert Herter, an artist of international reputation. Herter is internationally known for his memorial mural given to Paris in memory of his son, lost in the war. This mural was placed in the Gare del'Est, the Paris station where troops departed for the war. He also painted the canvases depicting epic events in the history of California, for the Los Angeles Public Library. His paintings gave life and color to the walls of the History Room, in Central Library. He is known to Californians through the St. Francis Hotel murals in San Francisco.
