Description
Mrs. Welch, dressed warmly in a long coat, scarf, gloves, hat and standing in the meadow at Yosemite with Half Dome in the background. The trees are bare and snow covers the ground. On the back is written: "Mother Yosemite 1922". Photo is one of several found in an envelope from Welch family labeled: "Snaps of stays in Yosemite -- Summer 1919 Xmas 1922 -- J.R., Mrs., Frances & Ione spent almost a week at the Sentinal Hotel on the Merced River. It was the first time Yosemite was open to the public in the winter. Train from S. J. to Merced, & to El Portal - then truck-like heavy bus on to the Hotel."
