Located at 1006 East 28th Street, the Spanish Colonial Revival style 28th Street YMCA was designed by Paul R. Williams in 1926. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument.
The 52-year-old 28th Street YMCA Ragger Society honors two of its boyhood members for "outstanding work with youth" at annual breakfast. From left, honorees Sup. Ct. Judge David Cunningham, Councilman Gilbert Lindsay, with Melvin Jeter, president and Harry Penn, lifetime members. Photograph dated September 26, 1976.
