Description
Dr. Judi Hollis discusses her book, ‘Fat Is a Family Affair.” She begins by explaining that her book looks at the emotional problems associated with weight loss, and does not focus on a specific diet. She talks about the connection between addiction, food, and depression. She discusses how people can be enablers and codependents. Dr. Hollis says that people need more education about eating disorders and the knowledge to help loved ones who are afflicted. She describes how a treatment program like Overeaters Anonymous can help a patient feel supported. She ends the interview by talking about how eating disordered people need to re-teach themselves to have a healthier relationship with food.
