Photograph article dated February 15, 1964 partially reads, "Lynn Wayne Benner, 21-year-old alleged abductor of Mrs. Leon Ames, will face a preliminary hearing Tuesday in Van Nuys Municipal Court on charges of kidnaping [sic] for the purpose of robbery." Mr. Benner allegedly held 61-year-old actor-auto dealer Leon Ames, his wife, Christine, and house guest, Herbert F. Baumgarteker captive for more than four terror-filled hours at the Ames' Studio City home. He subsequently kidnapped Mrs. Ames and threatened to kill them unless he received $50,000. The ordeal ended shortly with everyone safely rescued.
