Description
A Lundquist photograph of three men identified as Swan Wakefield, a contractor, and brothers Claus and August Lindblom. The men pause to be photographed while roofing a building. While it is possible they actually worked wearing shirts and ties, presumably they dressed up for the photographers. Note the basic style of scaffolding that stretches across the width of the wall. Its only supports are the stack of wood shingles in the center and the cross boards nailed at each end of the wall. The building to the left is the Fairview Grammar School. Turlock's population rose in anticipation of irrigation water for the farmland and the school enrollment of 1902 went from 50 to 500.
