Description
From the Charles Henry Geer photo album series that depicts a promotion held to sell land in Turlock, California, circa 1907. The unidentified man in the passenger seat is shown in an earlier photo standing on this car speaking to prospective land buyers. The woman dressed in white is also in another photograph with a group of people. The automobile is a REO touring car. Ransom E. Olds founded the REO Motor Car Company in 1904 after previously beginning the company that manufactured Oldsmobile cars. He was prevented from using his name (Olds) with the new company and so chose to use his initials, REO. Behind the people a railroad passenger car, probably of the Southern Pacific Railroad, is visible.
