W. P. A. Adobes vol.
Exterior view of the Gabe Allen adobe located on Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana, 1935. Porch, entrance and roof are visible. This adobe may have been built by the San Juan Capistrano Mission. This adobe is also known as the Diego Sepulveda, Estancia (substation for the San Juan Mission) or Polloreno adobe; each a former occupant or owner. Allen moved to this site in 1871, 1872. Lumber was used to repair the adobe and to build a frame addition. It is likely that Allen put in new doors and windows as well as re-roofed the adobe home.
