Scope/Content: Manuscript annotations by an anonymous contemporary reader in a copy of William Hopkins's Animadversions on Mr. Johnson's answer to Jovian. Underlining and marginal notations (usually numbers, but sometimes symbols) are found throughout the printed text and there is a longer textual note on the last page, in a very neat but small contemporary hand. This appears to have come from the library of Lyme Park, in Cheshire, as it bears the bookplate of William John Legh, 1st Baron Newton.
Condition: Bound in paneled calf; hinges loose.
