Description
This image appears with the article "Four Named to Park Body: Mayor Presents His Nominations to City Council," Los Angeles Times, 6 Apr. 1939: 10. Dr. Mars Frederick Baumgardt was an optometrist and science lecturer. He served as president of the Southern California Academy of Science and of the Astronomical Society. He was also a director of the Clark Observatory, member of the Nature Club of Southern California, a State fire warden, and a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society of Great Britain.
