Gladys Carter lying in a stretcher, with her mouth open. Two men in white coats carry the stretcher. Behind them is a middle-aged man in a suit and hat. The photograph was possibly taken when Carter was taken to the prison ward at Los Angeles General Hospital, where she was treated for a self-inflicted gunshot wound after killing her boarder, Frances Walker.
