Story related to photograph appears with the article, "Aristocrats and Plain Dogs Vie at Montrose," Los Angeles Times, 19 July 1935: A9.
The two children stand inside a pen on top of hay while other children watch and other people can be seen holding their own dogs. Dick holds his excited dog in his arms, who has jumped up on her hind legs and wags her tail. Etta holds her small Pekingese in her arms.
All sorts of dogs of La Crescenta Valley went out in the heat for the second annual dog show and awards were presented for smallest dog, largest dog, prettiest dog, and many other categories.
