Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of the plaster cast of Alexander Phimister Proctor's "Cowboy" standing in Denver City Park. The sculpture stands atop pedestal in a field of grass. It depicts a cowboy pulling on the reins of his horse as the horse pulls up. A tree-lined drive runs across the image behind the sculpture. This piece originally stood at the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago with its counterpart, "Indian", which also stood in Denver's City Park. Text from negative sleeve: 441. Eastern trip, 1900. Denver. I take mother on a trip to Burlington, Iowa. We have a lay over at Denver and go to the State Capitol. The State Capitol building. Mrs George M. West looking down from balcony.
