Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of H. H. West's Buick parked in front of the general merchandise store in Bieber. A dirt road occupies the foreground. H. H. West's Buick is parked in the near distance at left. It is viewed from the side and faces to the right. Someone (looks like Wilfrid Cline, Jr.?) sits in the backseat. The Bieber general store stands behind it. It appears to be a split-level; two stories at left and single story as it stretches out of frame to the right. A porch runs across the front of the building. Painted on the second story front, it reads, "N. BIEBER DEALER IN GENERAL MERCHANDISE." A couple of power lines pass overhead on the right. Text from negative sleeve: 1049. Trinity County trip, 1917. Bieber. 1. Coming into Bieber we met a car in distress. Harry Schmitz helps to get them started. Something wrong with steering gear. Wilfrid Cline Jr is standing in front watching. 2. My Buick in front of the store at Biebr [sic] I believe that is all there was at Bieber. 2 films
