Photograph, from left to right, of Elizabeth West and Frances West standing on a bridge over the Owens River and tossing pumice stones into the river. The girls stand in the near distance at center along one of the wheel tracks for the automobile bridge. Elizabeth stands leftmost and further back. She faces slightly left as she looks downward and holds a rock up in one hand. Frances stands to the right and in front of her. She faces the opposite direction and stands slightly slouched. The automobile bridge is composed of two separate wood-constructed wheel tracks passing across the river. The girls stand on the rightmost track. The bridge extends from the lower right corner, narrowing as it passes across the river on a slight angle towards the left. The Owens River passes horizontally across the image beneath the bridge and the West girls. Tall grasses and brush extend into the distance from the opposite bank of the river. Hills rise in the far distance.
