Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Based on the ages of Frances West and Elizabeth West in this image, the date has been estimated as about 1908, rather than about 1910. H. H. West's family sits and stands in the sand. Guy West kneels in the foreground with his hands in the sand. He is smoking a cigar. Mary West kneels next to Maude Hamilton, who reclines next to Elizabeth West. Wilhelmina West stands with her hand to her face and Frances West stands in front of her looking down at the sand. There is a wooden walkway at the right and utility poles and wires at the left. There are cottages in the background and the ocean is at the right. Mary A. West (Mary Adelbert Teel West Shepard) was H. H. West's first wife and the mother of Elizabeth and Frances. Guy M. West was H. H. West's brother and Maude Hamilton went on to become Guy's wife. Mrs. George M. West (Wilhelmina Lemberger West) was H. H. and Guy's mother. Text from negative sleeve: 1325.
