Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of the Circle Springs Trading Co. trading post in Circle Hot Springs as viewed from the front. A dirt road passes along the bottom edge of the image in the foreground. Beyond it and in the near distance stands the Circle Springs Trading Company. It is viewed from the front and appears to tilt down towards the right. The log building stands at center and extends to the left and out-of-frame. On the right half of the building, the front entry juts forward. To the left of the entrance, a white bench sits outside the building and bicycles in a bike rack stand at right. Two dormers with windows sit atop the roof. A sign spans the gap between the dormers, it reads, "CIRCLE SPRINGS TRADING CO." Other signage on the building reads, "STANDARD OIL PRODUCTS," "STAR TOBACCO," and "GENERAL MDSE." In front of the left half of the building, a gas pump stands. At far right, a small hill slopes back behind the trading post. A cabin stands atop the hill at right in the background. Text from negative sleeve: 2155. Alaska Trip. Circle Hot Springs Aug.20, 1946. 1. Vegetable garden and buildings at the springs. 2. The Trading Post. 3. Cabin behind the hotel.
