Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of a sign standing in Badwater Basin marking the lowest point in the western hemisphere (at the time). The dry lake of Badwater Basin stretches across the foreground and into the distance. A sign at center is posted in the middle of the landscape. The top portion of the sign reads, "BAD WATER 279.6 FEET BELOW SEA LEVEL LOWEST POINT IN THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE." Beneath it, another sign, facing right, reads, "[left pointing arrow] SHOSHONE.57 BAKER..........93 FURNACE CREEK...17 [right pointing arrow]." A woman stands in partial view behind the signpost.
