Photograph of Mertie West exiting the entrance to the elevator at Maid of the Mist in Niagara Falls. A driveway stretches across the foreground and into the mid-ground. Mertie West stands in the near distance at left. She walks towards the camera as she exits a hut housing the Maid of the Mist's elevator. The hut stands behind Mertie, along the left edge. It is viewed at an angle from the front. The building is constructed of stone and has a hipped roof. An arched lintel stretches over the building's wide doorway. The doors stand open behind Mertie and other visitors are visible inside the hut. Signage hanging below the roof's eave and above the lintel reads, "ELEVATORS TO FOOT OF FALLS 10[¢]," and "MAID OF THE MIST." Bushes line the perimeter of the driveway to the right of the hut and trees stand in the background.
