Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. According to the negative sleeve, this set of photographs is captured in color. The scans of these images are in black and white. NRHP reference # 87002591 Photograph of people ice skating on the rink at Rockefeller Center in New York. The rink sits sunken below the level of the plaza and is seen from a slightly elevated perspective. It stretches across the foreground. Several people are visible skating on the rink, right-of-center. Beyond the rink, a concrete wall stands tall along the back edge of the rink area at right. Three doors are inset at the base of the wall, over each one it reads, "CONCOURSE." Equally spaced flags line the top of the wall. Crowds of spectators stand behind the wall and watch the ice skaters below them. Shrubbery lines the back edge of the rink at left and center. Someone appears to lurk between the bushes. Behind him, canvas covers a large object. Four punched holes line the top edge at left. Text from negative sleeve: 2348.
