Broad Street stretches across the foreground. Mertie West stands at center on the curb across the street. She looks to camera. In front and to the left of her, a car is parked along the curb, facing left. Other pedestrians walk along the sidewalk behind her. The New York Stock Exchange building lines the back edge of the sidewalk. It stands in partial view, entering frame from the right and extending just past center. An entrance to the NYSE is behind Mertie and sits recessed back from the rest of the building to the right. Pilasters flank the front door and support a lintel.
