A park square in Independence National Historical Park spans the foreground and stretches into the distance. It is obscured by shadow. A tree branch extends across the top of the image. In the near distance, a statue of Commodore John Barry stands silhouetted at left. Beyond the statue, trees flank the left and right edges, framing the southern facade of Independence Hall behind them. Independence Hall stands in the distance at center. The Georgian building is viewed from its southern facade. A steeple rises from the center of the building, disappearing behind branches that hang in the foreground. Mertie West is barely visible standing at a fence just to the right of the front door of Independence Hall. Four punched holes line the bottom left edge.
