Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of visitors to Arlington National Cemetery standing and watching a guard patrol the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. An open terrace stretches through the image on an upward angle from right to left. A dozen or so visitors stand in a loose line and watch a patrolling guard. The line starts in the near distance, just right-of-center, and stretches back to the left, extending out-of-frame. Through a gap in the line at center, the patrolling guard is visible. He stands facing towards the right and with his rifle resting upon his near shoulder. Behind and to the left of him, a canvas hut stands. It is mostly obscured by the spectators standing in the mid-ground. Trees stand across the background, cascading downwards to the right. Text from negative sleeve: 2371.
