Joan Turman, of Kansas City, spent the summer with her friend, Virginia Hovey, of Pasadena, at the Hovey's summer home in Montecito. She celebrated her birthday at the Santa Barbara Biltmore with Virginia, Marion Pfau and Helena Vosburg. In this photograph, they are seen on the grounds of the hotel.
