Description
Scope/Content: An oral history with Linda Khachatoorian, who recounts stories from her father’s life. She is the daughter of Hugh R. McMillan whose family had a large part in the construction of Newport Beach. His family had a general store, a bait and tackle store, and had the first restaurant in Newport Beach. Hugh R. Mcmillan was also part of the first 4-year graduating class of Newport Harbor Highschool. Hugh R. Mcmillan is the author of Beach Rat Days, a book where he talks about his childhood and has donated a lot of his personal collection of photographs to the University of California, Irvine. In this interview, Linda Khachatoorian talks about how her history report led to her fathers book, the publishing of Beach Rat Days, her father's clam digging spot turning into Lido Isle, her families work with the McFadden brothers, and her involvement in the “Newport before the OC” Facebook page.
