Description
Scope/Content: An oral history of Isaac Tovar, who was born in 1999 in Santa Maria, California. He became a student at the University of California, Davis (UCD) in 2017 and studies managerial economics. Tovar was a vegetarian for four years and transitioned to veganism in 2017. Tovar’s connection to the UCI Stories from the Sea Oral History project is that he grew up on the West Coast. In this interview, he discusses his lifestyle as a vegan and how growing up on the West Coast affected his vegetarian/vegan lifestyle. He also offers insight into the transition from a vegetarian to vegan lifestyle, as well as the good and bad health aspects. In addition, he gives his opinions about the popularity of aquariums, fishing, and seafood restaurants on the coast and how they affect the vegetarian/vegan movement.
